The Life Sciences Community gives you the opportunity to live and study with others who share your major. The community will help you to develop and explore interests within the medical sciences, public health, sustainability and technology in science. One of the main goals of this community is to provide the optimal environment for studying, learning and building community with other science and pre-medical students.
This community is open to all students but is especially recommended for those majoring in biology, chemistry, pre-medical studies or environmental science.
Iana Slobodeaniuc – Manager Regulations & Industrial Policy at MedTech Europe (Brussels)
Iana is serving the European medical devices industry providing Regulatory and Advocacy support. Her objective is to ensure the efficient and smooth implementation of the new Regulation on in-vitro diagnostic medical devices (IVDR). Moreover, she is the liaison between the industry and other stakeholders like the European Commission, International Standard Organisation (ISO) and European CEN/CENELEC, Notified Bodies etc…
She has 6 years of experience in the Biotech field. Including research at the Catholic University of Louvain (Brussels), where she studied the molecular pathways of brain development. Moreover, Iana had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with in-vitro diagnostic tests in a clinical laboratory. In addition to that, she worked for a top multinational consultancy – EY where she performed Pharmaceutical and MedTech market research.
Iana holds an MSc. in Molecular Biology from the Science University of Moldova and a BSc. in Biotechnology from University of Padua, Italy. A Romanian and Moldovan binational, Iana is fluent in English, Italian, Romanian, Russian and has a good understanding of French. In her free time, Iana is practising Kendo (swords martial art).
Mihaela Didu – Senior Clinical Research Associate at Medpace (London)
Mihaela has extensive experience in clinical trials in Oncology, Neurology, Ophthalmology and Rare Diseases. Her role consists of performing protocol and study training to allocated hospitals and create effective lines of communication to meet project expectations as well as to ensure that the trials are conducted, recorded and reported in accordance with the Protocol, Standard Operating Procedures, Good Clinical Practice and the applicable Regulatory requirements. She is responsible for managing the evolution of assigned projects by tracking regulatory submissions and approvals and providing solutions to boost recruitment and enrolment.
Mihaela has a scientific background, with a Bachelors Degree in Biomedical Sciences and a Masters Degree in Drug Discovery and Pharmaceutical Industry Management at University College London.
She is currently working at Medpace – a clinical research organization (CRO) conducting global clinical research for the development of drugs and medical devices, she also worked for Iqvia ( London) and the Centre for Genomic Regulation (Barcelona).
Nicoleta Nagailic – CEO at Tele.Medical Toursim Review
Nicoleta is building projects and startups focused on helping communities to grow and evolve.
Her passion is the empowerment of individuals through education, mentorship, and networking. Now, she is focused on supporting the international patient community, by building a startup – MedicalTourism.Review that offers support, information, and access to treatments locally and globally. The goal of the startup is to reach patients in underserved countries and offer them information about treatments that they can get abroad.
In the past, she had been organizing events, coding schools, and training programs for IT professionals in Moldova. Also, she has worked on media projects like 3D animation movies, travel documentaries, and scouting – travelling to over 35 countries in Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe.
Although she has design and arts education her passion was healthcare from the early years in her life. Which in time helped her to understand the problems people were facing in many countries she had travelled to, during her 6 years of work on the road.
Mary Nemciuc – Startup Ecosystem Builder at Tekwill
Mary is a biotechnology enthusiast and tech-savvy professional with five years of experience in developing startup ecosystem in Moldova. She is a well-connected person, who has built many bridges in between entrepreneurs, mentors and opportunities. She has extensive experience in programs, business development, strategy development, events and brings in Moldova over 7 startup initiatives as Seedstars Chisinau, Techstars Startup Week, Silicon Drinkabout, Ignite Chisinau, FinTech Community, Rockstart Answers, TechVillage, Startup Academy Moldova, Bazaar Retail Forum.
Currently, Mary is the Entrepreneurship Program Manager at Tekwill, being responsible for growing startup ecosystem, within ATIC (Moldovan Association of ICT Companies) from 2015 organized startup related events and initiatives as Moldova ICT Summit, Chisinau Smart City, IoT Microsoft Lab, Techstars Startup Weekend, Chisinau Demo Day, Tekwill Ambassadors & Tekwill Travelers programs.
One of the newest challenges for her is Startup Moldova program within Tekwill project, where si is involved in managing team, that intents to boost economic growth in Moldova, by providing employment through innovation, increasing the use of tech and startup mindset.
